“The Open Door — Network Marketing for the 21st Century”
to Protect Independent Distributors
(SALT LAKE CITY, April 2, 2008) MonaVie LLC (www.monavie.com), creator of the leading nutritional acai blend beverage, today announced the launch of a worldwide campaign: “The Open Door — Network Marketing for the 21st Century.” The campaign calls on direct sellers and network marketers to end any and all policies and procedures that seek to bind their independent contractors with unfair and abusive non-compete agreements.
Punitive lawsuits against distributors who choose to leave network marketing companies have become a common tactic for a few companies within the industry. The goal of these suits is to discourage healthy competition and to impede distributors’ ability to make a living for themselves and their families. Even distributors who have fulfilled demanding non-compete agreements have been sued when they attempt to join another network marketing company years later.
“Non-compete agreements were designed for high-level corporate employees, not for independent contractors,” says Dallin Larsen, MonaVie founder and president. “Some network marketing companies use overly burdensome language in their agreements as a punitive tool to tie their independent contractors to them for life, often interfering with the individual entrepreneur’s ability to earn a living. It’s my belief that direct selling companies need to earn the trust of their most valued asset, their distributors, on a daily basis. If a distributor, for whatever reason, no longer trusts his or her company, that distributor should be free to go in another direction without undue restriction.”
In today’s economy, more and more people are turning to network marketing to find full-time work, or to supplement their income. However, if these prospective distributors are worried about being handcuffed to unfair contracts, they will be less likely to take advantage of the benefits that network marketing can offer to them and their families.
MonaVie’s “The Open Door — Network Marketing for the 21st Century” campaign is built upon the company’s belief that today’s network marketing distributors deserve, as independent contractors, to be liberated from outdated, abusive and generally unenforceable policies and procedures.

I have never heard of Monavie. Can anyone enlighten me about them and fill me in on why they are involved in this Open Door thing. Usually companies look out for #1, themselves, and they forget about how they got to where they are today, through their hard working distributors. I find it interesting that these guys at Monavie actually get it.

Frank: MonaVie is a network marketing company really taking the high ground I think. I understand that they’ve got thousands of distributors here in this country and in others. I find it refreshing that they have this Open Door campaign going….I agree that they definitely get it. Why are they involved? I think that they have seen other companies do it the wrong way and they are determined to do it the right way without all this being chained for life to your company. Wow….I just saw the press release on line for this and that’s what got me going…a new breath of fresh air in this industry for sure. jf

I love MonaVie’s vision. What they’re doing with this campaign will benefit the entire direct selling industry. When distributors and prospective distributors alike can join and leave a given company without the fear of a lawsuit, this industry will attract a whole new group of people, and current distributors will be given new life. MonaVie definitely gets it. They get free enterprise. They know that this industry is big enough for them and all other direct selling companies, and they’re not afraid of healthy competition.

For those that don’t know, Dallin Larsen has a wealth of experience in the network marketing industry. Not only was he a key figure in the success of USANA before starting MonaVie, he also served on the board of the DSA (Direct Sellers Association) for years. I’m not sure if he’s still on the board or not, but it shows a lot about his character and intent.
The network marketing industry is going through a massive, and necessary, overhaul right now. The internet has changed the playing field, and MonaVie has been wise to pay attention to that. Companies can no longer demand the loyalty of their distributors, because the internet makes it possible to find better alternatives in just a few clicks.
The key is to simply be the best company possible by offering a great product and treating distributors in such a way that they simply love the company and product too much to consider leaving for anyone else. For those that decide it’s not for them, the company needs to wish them well and allow them to leave and pursue their own dreams on their own terms.
Well done, MonaVie. I believe it is actions like this one which will make you stand out as one of the Premier Network Marketing Companies of the 21st Century.

This is wonderful news! Bravo for MonaVie and Dallin Larsen..this is truly a company that is looking out for their distributors rather than themselves!. Yes I too have been approched by people who are in other muti level companies and are very dissapointed that their policy states that they can not make a move..People are looking at MonaVie and the companies fast moving growth and the juice that is unparreled by any other product in the market today..and want to come aboard….This Open Door is great…I hope that other MLM’s will learn from a man that knows how to treat his valued distributors. I didn’t know Dallin Larsen’s history that Lane shared with us but what I do know is that he cares about people. He strives to do the right thing. He is an inspiration to the distributors in Mona Vie and wishes them all well whether they stick with the company or not. I am truly grateful to have found a company that has a management team of this integrity.

My son called Monavie to resign due to not having 6 months of inactivity at Quixtar. He was told by the representative that he would have to wait 6 more months before he could sign up again with Monavie.

Certainly refreshing to hear this. It has always been a thorn in my side to think that any company dare to dictate what we can do as we are independent distributors. I have been told by people with no downline and no income that they cannot join another company…it is not allowed by…….will not name the company but I think we all know who it is. How dare they dictate like that and it has been appalling that some people buy into that …Good for Dallin to do something about it. It is about time that someone dealt with this issue - we do not live in the dark ages. Network marketing has changed and developed and become a career for many and it is time for change.

Way to go Mona Vie! You have my support 100%! I was one of the captive Americans that had to wait 6 months for a non-compete (that was never mentioned in the sign up paperwork) to expire. It is pure communism for a company to force workers to give up their rights! If we want a future for the network marketing world…..the non-competes need to go!

Let freedom reign. I’m very excited about the “open door” movement in the direct sales and m.l.m. industries. In Canada the laws are different I’m sure but the practice of “non-competes” is alive and well. Be on your guard people, quite often when you hear someone say “It’s for your protection” or “It’s for your security”, your freedom is being etched away a little more. Do rules clarify or confuse, protect or enslave, and why would I, by default passively relinquish my responsibility to watch out for my family’s best interest. Be on guard people its called bondage. And don’t allow rules and laws to be changed “for our good” any more. Think and be free. Real men don’t take care. So take charge. Dave

I have been with a few different Network Companies and after I found that it was not the right place for me I had to wait forever to try something different.

The Open Door Campaign is a fantastic idea. In fact, I had absolutely no clue that a Closed Door policy existed until now. As far as I’m concerned, as long as we, as distributors, are responsible for paying for our own healthcare, and all of our taxes, NO company should bar anyone for leaving one company for another. How fair is that?
It would feel like being punished, then imprisoned without committing a crime.

Outstanding, coming from a no compete clause, I am thrilled to hear this. Although I will only become a official Monavie Distributor as of April 3. I signed with another company at the end of July last year, only to find out that there was trouble in the company, when I wanted to move on, only a short month later, I realized that I was locked into doing nothing for 6 months. With great relief, I am now free from that company that I literally only ordered once from. It is very sad, that this has tainted my view, but have done a lot more research and believe that I can make a worthwhile effort to help others, lead others and improve others lives and my own, through the leadership of my company and Mona Vie. Congratulations and Kudos to those involved in this plan to revolutionize the MLM.

Thank you Dallin for getting this blog started. What an awesome way to get this issue into the limelight. We know who the major thorn in everybody’s side is in this issue, (starts with Q and ends with r, or A / y, take your pick…same thing) and it’s not MonaVie.
That particular company has gone as far as saying that their distributor force is “their property”, in the lawsuits against some of their board members. What? I thought slavery was abolished? So, let’s see how this works… The big Q company changed their name without distributor consent (and also against the wishes of the board - when your dbl diamond tells you that he doesn’t necessarily agree…that’s just the way it is…gotta protect that tools/functions business ya know) back to the big A, automatically putting a bullet in the head of alot of distributors businesses. They can change the name, do whatever they please, but they can sue someone with no downline, and no profit, who may have spent $100s/$1000s of their own money trying to follow a system (not provided by the corp) that did nothing but very secratively make certain pins money (e.g. platinums and above). The big A has done nothing in my opinion for it’s distributor force in the last 30 years except provide an overpriced product that the free market has caught up with and passed in terms of quality.
Most of the individuals who signed up for those IBOs(meant to mean Independant Business Owner-yeah right), had no idea at the time they were bound to a non compete, and the policies and procedures were not even something that were ever, or are still ever even mentioned in the process. Just click the “yeah i read it” button and go on. It’s never part of the conversation….period, and was never mentioned by the sponsoring distributor. I’d actually like to know how many of their “IBOs” actually knew they were being entrapped?
Anyway….best wishes in the future to the old tired big A (tongue in cheek). You’re gonna need it. The attorneys are now running the business into the dinosaur era. Dick DeVos Sr must be on an extended vacation off the planet, or paying too much attention to his basketball team, to let the children wreck what could have been an awesome chance to bring the old Big A dinosaur into the 21st century. Or, maybe since Jay Van Andel died, he just doesn’t care anymore. What’s next….is the Big A gonna sue to get the names and addresses of the people who post on this blog? Wouldn’t surprise me.
Thank you Dallin/MonaVie for bringing common sense to this great business. It’s about time somebody stood up to the bullies in Ada.

Removing non-compete clauses raises competition by definition. Naturally, some companies that thrive by being anal about not allowing independent business owners to leave immediately at will and pursue other ventures within the industry will have an issue with this Open Door Campaign. I am left to deduce that is because those companies would not be as “successful” in an open free-agent market. If that is not the case, then what is the real reason any MLM company would have and enforce a non-compete clause?
An excellent thought is this: an open door policy that removes the bondage of non-compete clauses increases competition in the MLM industry. This will force companies to be fairer in their compensation plans, be more competitive with their product pricing, and allow the independent contractors to be truly independent. The success of this Open Door Campaign will revolutionize the MLM industry, making it a truly free enterprise.

As a formerly incarcerated (by non compete clause that I never signed) IBO of another company (identified by two initials A/Q to protect their identity/image…or whats left of it) I salute Mr Larsen. Leadership by it’s very nature means you’re out front and Mr Larsen has proven to so many that he is a man who remains out front.
Many Mona Vie reps may not have heard of Orrin Woodward, Chris Brady and The TEAM, however I am confident as you learn more about their character and leadership, you will understand why TEAM is such a perfect fit with Mona Vie. Dallin clearly understands the importance of serving his distributors and putting their needs first. He clearly understands that Free Enterprise requires freedom… and that competition actually keeps the companies on their toes. A great leader will serve his people, A great company will serve its distributors. These values are shared by the leaders of TEAM and why it made so much sense to bring the TEAM community into this wonderful opportunity.
The more I learn about Mona Vie the more excited I am to be associated with this company. I am equally proud to be associated with so many Mona Vie IBO’s who over the course of the last three years have established a successful track record that we new IBO’s can point to when sharing this opportunity. Can I just say Hallelujah! As a former slave, freed 3/18/08 and registered as a distributor for Mona Vie yesterday, LOL… let me just say that hesitancy doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt when considering another MLM but let’s be realistic; I have vision, purpose, and dreams that I am not going to let any company or person take away from me regardless of a non-compete clause and the more Mona Vie gets involved when they really don’t have to, the more impressed I am by their and Dallin’s character, morals and ethics. I have never known what it’s like to TRULY be an Independent Business owner with a MLM but once I get my Intro Pack, I know I’ll find out REAL soon! Thank you to Dallin for taking the steps to free those who are still enslaved and thank you to Orrin and Chris for putting yourselves on the line, taking a stand for what you believe is right. May we all pray for a future right around the corner that includes free enterprise and the hope of true Independent Business owners for all Network Marketing Companies. Sometimes companies try to place too much controll on people and what do they get, resistance, defiance and alot of aggravation. Control is relative, one can only be controlled if one choses to be. If something is stragled it will die, and I am sorry to say that will happen to those companies who try to hold onto people who have a free will. There are always loopholes.
Now, as soon as someone is let loose, given room to grow, the tension subsides everyone relaxes and things flourish. In fact the growth potential is exponential.
Dallin understands this growth concept, well I myself want to follow someone who will help me grow beyond my potential.

Absolutely 100% what the industry needs. Who would want to join in a company that as an independent distributor and not have the option to leave if they saw an opportunity that better
fit their needs? MonaVie is leading in many ways and constantly breaking new ground within the industry. This is a win/win situation. This is how free enterprise was meant to operate.
To me if you no longer have your heart into the company it is best to part ways. Why would anyone want to force someone to stay within a network company if they would rather be with another one? Sounds like desperation to me.
Come on people, lets join hands and agree on this simple concept that will improve our industry.

Once again MonaVie is showing the world what integrity really means in a free society and what free enterprise is suppose to be. The main reason folks get involved in MLM is because they are sick and tired of being lied to by these corporations they work for all there lives for and come up short at the end when the company decides to file bankruptcy. All the promises of a better tomorrow if you just hang in there and dedicate your life to your careers. I’ve seen so many people come up short after 20 and 30 years of hard work and dedication.
I am thankful that someone shared this awesome product with me then i was able to see the wonderful opportunity I have to become self sufficient and ” Own My Life Again”.

Companies that use these types of tactics are typically scared that people may discover the truth about there company. If there opportunity is that great then they have nothing to worry about. I came from a company that used these types of scare tactics to prevent me from leaving there so called greatest opportunity in the world. They were scared of people knowing the truth on why I was leaving so they tried to use it against me.

Somehow, it isn’t coming across here what the specific problem is. The implication is that people who work for other direct marketing companies are being sued if they choose to be a distributor for Monavie as well?
This is too vague for many of us who have not plunged into multi level marketing before.
The only problem I have had is with other distriubtors selling Monavie at heavy discounts which has undercut my ability to bring in new distributors. Other distributors are setting up ‘retail outlets’ in gyms and other facilities. People I know can afford Monavie, but they feel the price is too high through auto ship, so buy the discounted bottles over the counter where they find it.

Hi all,
I am so impressed with Dallin and Mona Vie for launching this campaign. It is definitely a worthwhile effort.
However, I wonder if anyone can answer my 3 questions below:
1. Does Mona Vie have a black and white contract with Mona Vie IBOs that state that they will NEVER, EVER have a non-compete rule? (after all, my dear company which so many of you believe is the catalyst of the matter, did NOT have a non-compete rule until after they have grown big, and that to protect themselves when they found leaving IBOs raiding others’ organisation - ie. crosslining)
2. Does Mona Vie have a black and white contract with Mona Vie IBOs that state that they will NEVER, EVER change the compensation plan to the detriment of Mona Vie IBOs without the written and universal consent of the Mona Vie IBOAI? (if such a company even exists)
3. Does Mona Vie have a black and white contract with Mona Vie IBOs that state that they will NEVER, EVER do the things that my dear company has done over the years, such as slipping in new rules and regulations in the policy manual at each renewal - especially when NOT changing hurts the Mona Vie bottomline?

I’m very new to network marketing myself, however being in “Corporate America” I’m well aware of non-compete clauses. They stink
and really hold everyone back from pursuing their dreams. After 1 week with MonaVie I knew that it was the company for me. Each day I wake up with a smile on my face and just wish I could find a megaphone loud enough to scream MonaVie from the top of every mountain. MonaVie is and amazing company and everyday I “ITS” my spirit just over flows with joy!!

I don’t understand why Amway would consider it ‘competing’ if a person wanted to distribute it and Monavie. Two separate distributorships two separate product lines. I don’t think people drink any Amway products. Maybe I am wrong…(I don’t deal with Amway) What about Avon? Same thing?

Fantastic publicity stunt! What has MonaVie got to lose? Always defend with a counter-attack then get people up in a huff telling them that their rights have been taken away. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, when you signed up with Amway or other MLMs, you voluntarily signed a contract with a non-competing clause. Maybe you should not be signing those types of contracts in the first place then you wouldn’t be crying about your rights…

You are misguided and uninformed. The non-compete that we are all talking about was not signed by any of us. It was slid after into the IBO contract after the fact in 2004, so that by auto renewing you became a party to the unannounced changes. If anyone had actually signed a non-compete there would be no argument.

I just have to say Thank You Dallin Larsen!! I have only been with MonaVie for 2 weeks and already am so impressed with how Dallin has created & is running this company! First of all, I had no idea this kind of activity was happening, with Independent Distributors! How is that independent? or even fair? It just seems like the worst form of business, to imprison people like that, and then when the IBO’s realize they aren’t making ANY money and are looking for something new, and decide to leave, start something new, they get sued, for something they didn’t even know existed!! How can these people sleep at night?? I’m very proud to be involved with a company with good morals and core values.

Way to go Dallin and MonaVie! I am so excited to see you undertake this initiative. For those of you who have never dealt with a non-compete like this and aren’t sure what all the fuss is about, please allow me to give you a personal example.
As my husband and I started what we thought was our own business in a different network marketing company at age 20, we had no idea they would slip in a non-compete clause on us. We also didn’t know enough to investigate or even be concerned about it. When the company (who will remain nameless!) changed the deal on us, we didn’t have the option to just quit and join another company in hopes of replacing the income we had worked so hard for. We have spent the last six months each working multiple jobs, seeing each other and our baby very little, struggling to replace the income that we had planned on to keep me home as a stay at home mom. While our struggles have been difficult for us the last few months, in comparison to some of our friends’ situations we have it easy. Others who had retired from their earnings at the company lost their entire income, and countless others have been harassed with lawsuit after lawsuit - all while having to just sit back and wait to be able to start another enterprise.
We are excited to get started with Mona Vie and so grateful to Dallin and your other leaders for thinking of the distributor first and making this a great opportunity for all. We support the Open Door Campaign 100%!

Coming from a former distributor/IBO of the “other”networking company of 15 years, this is the best thing since sliced bread! I do have to say that there was a lot I learned from doing “the business”…yet when I first got involved there wasn’t a “no compete clause”, we were considered indpendent distributors…What happened?…I left for a number of reasons and didn’t look back. My story is my own, and will share it with those who will care for us as people. Having a no compete clause is like saying..”You can’t leave your job until I say so!…and you won’t work until I know your broken”! I know there may be many that will be disgruntled..yet think of the mind set that company started to get you to think…We will all be able to get on with our lives and still be better of because of the lessons we learned! GO MONAVIE! “There’s always room for improvement”!

It’s about time that someone stepped up and told it like it is. I’ve been saying this for years. If companies want to restrict their “independent contractors,” then maybe they should have to pay payroll taxes on those employees because that’s how they are treating their “independent contractors,” there treating them like captive employees.
In the spirit of FREE enterprise all Networking comapnies need to adopt this phylosophy! If they do they just might see there distriputor base climb.
All of us who are in this industry are here because we are attracted to the life style that says, your life is your own and thus, it’s up to us to choose our own path. I know personally of really great Networkers who are brutally treated after they make a descion to leave their respective company and go elsewhere. THIS IS WRONG!
I really hope that this blog helps to put the pressure on those comapnies and fear mongering CEO’S that use fear and intimidation tactics to try to grow their businesses at the expense of the distributors in their companies.

Hmmmmmmm. Ok, I will google Dallin Larsen. Yep, got just what I expected. Wake up people, the writing is on the wall. If you want to know the direction of Mona Vie’s future, just look to the past of its leader ( and I use the word leader very hesitantly). I think the saying goes like this, when going to court, if you have the facts on your side, pound the facts ( you don’t have the facts on your side Mona Vie ) , if you have the law on your side, pound the law ( you dont have the law on your side Mona Vie ) , if you don’t have the facts or the law on your side, just pound the table. Do your research people, its not that hard and the information is easy to find. I am not in Team,Quixtar,Amway or Mona Vie. But this sure is fun to watch.

Dallin Larsen a jeté une pierre dans le jardin du MLM. Il fallait le faire.
Je pense que les sociétés de MLM qui “interdisent” à leurs membres de partir véhiculent une très mauvaise image de notre profession. Nous sommes Distributeurs Indépendants mais cette indépendance est trop souvent à sens unique.
Dallin Larsen prône la liberté. La liberté de travailler avec la meilleure compagnie. Si quelqu’un pense qu’il n’est pas dans la compagnie qu’il aurait voulu, il doit avoir la possibilité de partir et de construire son avenir avec une autre compagnie.
Je suis avec MonaVie depuis le début (janvier 2005), et bien que je sois un grand père, j’espère y être encore dans 25 ans. Je suis fier de ces dirigeants, je suis fier d’être une Distributeur Independant MonaVie.

James, James, James… first of all by your statement you are insinuating that MonaVie grabbed people from another company, when in fact they did NOT grab anyone from any company, past, present, and I can safely say, in the future. It’s simply not part of their culture and philosophy. That philosophy should be very evident by what is happening in this blog alone.
Secondly, if I had distributors in my down line that were not happy to be there then yes they should have the right to leave and also have the right to take their personally sponsored people if those people are also unhappy. The last thing I would want in my organization are unhappy distributors that don’t want to be there. Bodies don’t make a down line, but distributors that trust and respect the company and their sponsor do!
Not all companies will suit all people so there will always be unhappy distributors in every company. I am only speculating, but I would even put money on the fact that people have also left MonaVie, and have taken people with them. So what!! But I can also bet that there are not huge groups of people leaving. And if there is a company that does have huge groups leaving then that company should step back and take a good hard look at themselves and see what’s causing a mass exodus. A simple solution would be to simply take the Open Door Pledge and live by those words.
There is no point in fighting this campaign James. In the words of Wilford Brimley, “It’s the right thing to do”

Bob, Bob, Bob, that is what the Quixtar lawsuit is all about (thousands of Quixtar distributors left to go to Monavie). I completely agree with the movement, but it only looks like this is a “way to go Monavie” site in response to the Quixtar lawsuit. I am only asking, would Monavie be upset if some of their big distributors took their entire organization to another MLM?

Hey James, if this blog was only a ‘way to go’ MonaVie site then your post would probably not make it past a moderator. Not sure if you noticed but the posts on ODC are not moderated unlike the Q/A blog. It gives them a chance to weed out the ones they don’t like I guess. Your posts are up in real time.
When distributors like, trust and respect a fair company and their executives then they want tell you about it. The same goes for the opposite.
Sorry there aren’t enough anti-MonaVie posts here for you James but I imagine that’s because the majority of MonaVie Distributors do actually like, trust and respect their company, as well as non-MonaVie folks actually do believe it’s time to change the unfair way many MLM companies do business.
By the way, the Quixtar lawsuit that they filed after MonaVie sued them first had nothing to do with the original MonaVie lawsuit. They sued MonaVie for some totally unrelated issue, something to do with the bottle label or some stupid thing like that.
I can’t speak for MonaVie but as far as MonaVie not being happy if a big Distributor took their organization to another MLM, well I image they would not be happy, but MonaVie does the right thing which does not give Distributors a reason to leave. They live by the ODC Pledge.
Bottom line, why are there so many negative Q/A blogs, why do so many Q/A IBOs want to leave, what’s wrong with Q/A or their policies? Personally I can’t say because I was never a Q/A IBO.

This campaign simply shows the intregrity of the company. See, by MonaVie not having a non-compete clause they are forced to continue to operate with the upmost intregrity and to the benefit of the distributor. That’s the whole idea! It forces a company to stick to their end of the bargin and truely do what is in the best interest of their distributors. If they don’t, the distributors leave and they have no company…it’s not rocket science. Only companies that have something to loose (distributors) and something to hide won’t join in on this campaign.
Robert Strong….well spoken. Everthing I was thinking of saying you pretty much covered…all the way down to the fact that as I understand it MonaVie filed the first complaint in court and was then counter-filed against by Amway.
We have a wonderful company with an amazing managment team leading the way and a second to none product that collectively are changing lives. Anyone who gets off of their soap-box long enough to truely look at the company and the heart of it all along with the product will realize they’re missing the boat if they don’t climb aboard.

Way to go Dallin and MonaVie. We have never been a part of anything like MonaVie before but I’ll tell you what, my husband and I are MonaVie for Life. We will never do anything else, BUT if we did decide to go to another network marketing business its nice and reassuring to know that MonaVie would not put road blocks in our way to build our own home business with a company of our chosing. A year and a half ago we didn’t know about MonaVie but once we started drinking the juice and started our business we are convinced that we are in the best home business that there is. When we met all of the executives in the company we knew for sure we were in the right business. They have the best interest of the distributors in mind when ever they make any decisions, including this open door campaign, in fact they are thinking about distributors every where not just at MonaVie. God Bless Dallin and his vision and the rest of the MonaVie team.

Here is why a non-compete is totally unfair for this industry.
First of all I have never been involved with Amway, but I am involved in another company right now that has me shackled to their whipping post. I am no longer doing the business because that company I joined a few years ago is no longer the company I joined a few years ago.
We no longer support a charity, and every change to the compensation plan eats into our commissions. It wouldn’t be so bad if they were sharing the wealth with our organizations but that is not the case. It seems that with every change more money is breaking up to the company.
With that said, how is my non-compete fair? Yes I did sign it, but I signed it because I believed at the time that the company was doing the right things, and so did everyone that I recruited into the business. Over the past 2 years they have made 10+ major changes in every aspect of the company that nobody, and I mean nobody agrees with. About the only thing that stayed the same over the past 2 years was my non-compete, hmm.
If you are currently involved in a company that has you locked in with a non-compete then fight as hard as you can to abolish it. Make sure everyone in your organization grabs a copy of the Open Door pledge and sends it to head office.
The best analogy I can come up with regarding my company’s contract and non-compete is this. When I signed up I thought I was buying a BMW but over the past 2 years they have been swapping out all the body parts and slowly turning it into a Yugo, but I’m still making payments on the Beamer!
Only 72 days left on my non-compete, watch out Monavie, here I come.

I do not get it. Why would Q/A want to get rid of their people just because they might be doing Monavie.
Are they so arrogant that they don’t want increased business anymore ??–As far as I know, every Monavie person needs soap. You would think Q/A would send a letter to every Monavie person to offer them 50 bucks off their first order of Q/A stuff and encourage them to sign up.
It seems to me like they are thinking like big operators who are scared they are going to lose their downline. For anyone taking a look at the network marketing industry for the first time and from a fresh point of view, they would be appalled that these Q/A guys would be allowed to try and place those restrictions on people. It is just plain wrong –especially in the free world. !!

I believe Network Marketing is the last bastion of Free Enterprise. I support this effort by Dallin Larsen’s CEO to bring this important topic to the front. I have been involved in several network marketing companies. I have learned the hard way how important it is to read the fine print of the distributor agreement.
I left Corporate America because of the outdated policies that tie the hands of innovative employees and entrepreneurs. I have had to leave more than one Network Marketing company because of non-compete or even whistle blowing policies that attempt to tie independent distributors to companies with inferior products or compensation systems.
I couldn’t be happier to have found Network Marketing as the one true capitalist system that rewards those who are willing to make sacrifices and use innovation to meet the market with products and strategies that provide real value to the consumers and honest, ethical unequaled income opportunities to distributors. I have long been excited to be a part of a system that rewards effort and integrity. A level playing field characterized by individual effort rewarded with equal opportunity. Liberty and Freedom are the cornerstones of this industry and like all freedoms, are precious and must be protected.
Thank you Dallin Larsen and MonaVie! This industry and all future Network Marketers around the world are in your debt for standing up for the principles of freedom.

I am actually not in MLM, but I am an independent entrepreneur and market products online.
There is one pile of stuff on the newswires about this campaign and I had to come over and see what this was all about. I find it strange that there are still companies out there in this day and age that actually think that slavery is ok.
I wonder if they even realize that women have the vote now?

Are you stupid? Take some responsibility for your own actions and do not join or stay with any company that has a non compete.

Dallin is the Man-
I have created companies in the past and had EMPLOYEES sign a Non-compete-clause, that makes sense on many levels. I have also hired many 1099 sub contractors and would never assume such a stupid deal with them (very selfish and very unfair). This practice is just basic business 101- Duh with a capital D.
I am new to Networking. Without a leader like Dallin or a product like MonaVie, I would never consider this industry for me or my family as a way to create REAL wealth. MonaVie is the real deal, and Dallin is doing the right thing- No matter what garbage is going on elsewhere in this industry. Compainies like A/Q think they own this type of marketing with an old school mentality of “we were here first” or “we inveneted this” kind of mindset but unfortunately the reality is they have deep pockets so we need Dallin and his leadership BIG TIME and must support him anyway we can. In my opinion Dallin is taking the higher road and standing strong doing it. Thank God we have a leader like that.
I never thought I would ever work for anyone or anything else again, but I can say proudly that MonaVie is the - “Last thing / Last time” (thanks Brig / Dallin!) And Dallin is making sure I never have to work as an EMPOLYEE in this industry.
MonaVie is a world wide movement towards FREEDOM.

Also, the issue with the Q/A non-compete is that there wasn’t a non-compete when when they signed up, and it was slipped in when they renewed without them knowing.

Hi all
Not sure if this is the right place to mention this, but I was at the MonaVie meeting in Dearborn on Saturday April 12, and it was outstanding!
I barely have words to describe what I felt at that meeting, but the honesty and integrity of the MonaVie corporate executives as well as the leaders was simply unbelievable. I am so proud and blessed to be part of this company.
I hope my heart can take the excitement at the convention in Salt Lake this September!!!

One has to wonder why some of the other MLM’s are getting angry about this concept of “The Open Door” Campaign. Someone is finally calling their bluff and exposing their unfair practices in regards to their distributors. Are they afraid that their distributors will leave their company? If an individual is not having success with one company, then he/she should have the right to choose another company.

We are so very proud to be part of a company that has proven to have a strong backbone and who wholeheartedly supports not only their own “Independent” Business Owners but IBO’s from other companies. Anyone with a heart cannot help but to feel very deeply for those people that are being wronged. Plain and Not so simple apparently… Wronged!
Dallin Larsen and Monavie has shown us once again why we are a “5 Star Company!” We are humbled to think that not only does our 5th Star help impoverished children, but out of the Huge Hearts of our Leaders, we are now able to envision another Star… to help free the “independent” children of the corporate, etc., Godfathers of this world!
Shame on all of “them,” including but not limited to… the ones who somehow figure out a way to discreetly enslave human beings, the ones who downsize and sell out their loyal employees jobs to the lowest bidders, all in the name of lining “their” pockets with the almighty dollar. Where are “they” when “they” ultimately impoverish the children of those men and women who have given “their” all and “helped them” make those dollars?
As far as we’re concerned any company that does not hop on board… “The Open Door — Network Marketing for the 21st Century.” campaign, might possibly have something to hide or may be extremely insecure. Or is it that they may be insecure because they might have something to hide? They may be the ones who might put up the most resistance and who might be quick to lash out, after all that’s just human nature. Isn’t it?
In other words, think about your own children and a time that they knew they did, or were about to do, something wrong. For example… trying to steal a cookie from the cookie jar, or cutting their siblings or the family pets hair, or playing with matches, God forbid. When caught or confronted, what was their reaction? Hmmmmm…

Hey MonaVonians, MonaVieItes, not sure what we should call ourselves.
Does anyone reading this blog even know that Q/A has an acai product??? After reading the Q/A MonaVie lawsuit court dockets I discovered that the unfair competition thing they filed had to do with their so called acai product and the MonaVie acai blend, and absolutely nothing to do with the lawsuit that MonaVie filed first, which was for unfair treatment of independent distributors and smothering non-competes.
Does that mean that anyone that advertises or sells Kool-Aid (which by the way, Q/A actually also sells!!!) below the Q/A price, or even advertises for that matter, is going to get sued by Q/A for unfair competition???

At last a company (traditional or network) that really cares about its people!
I said I would never do Network again after 3/4 different tries, but Monavie and its corporate team is nothing more than EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!
We were controlled by traditional Business and in Networks in some shape or form but Monavie and Dallin has shown his compassion and integrity time and time again. Monavie can’t give us enough and they have shown that at events that we earned at recent progression to the higher Ranks of Monavie!
Over 30 years of working in Corporate America and laid off twice in past 30 years and then along comes Monavie after being laid off after 15 years in last job……………………. What a Blessing! And getting paid more than I ever did in 35 years prior. This is Last Thing, Last Time! Finally FREE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
If willing to do what most people are not for next couple of years, we will have and do what they won’t for a lifetime!!!!!!

I am so grateful that Dallin Larsen is standing up for the rights of distributors. I have been in the network marketing industry for the past 40 years (my entire adult life)…I have believed in the dream and even made millions of dollars, but I have never seen a company with the management team like MonaVie. The last company I was with for 25 years, I helped them open all of Europe, E. Europe, S. Africa and parts of Asia. As the company grew the compensation plan diminished and the rules went from being open to being totally boxed in. In the end, I couldn’t continue with this company because of the way they treated their distributors and the changes that clearly gave the independent distributors no freedom.
Think about it, what is the difference between someone like myself who gave 100% to my company for 25 years retiring to build another business and continueing to earn residual income from that company and a corporate employee who retires and continues to received earned benefits and at the same time begins another business.
Independent distributors are not employees. There are rules of conduct, like no cross sponsoring, that are important in this business but I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with MonaVie and to know that the Dallin Larsen and the MV Management Team ALWAYS has the utmost regard for the distributors who are independent. My hope and prayer is that no one ever has to loose their residual income like I did just because they want to move on to a new opportunity.
MonaVie and Dallin Larsen are cutting a new, higher path for Relational Marketing and I am so proud to be part of this opportunity.

Just in case no one has done research yet. Please go to mlmwatchdog.com and you will find out what direction Mona Vie is headed ( and its not up! ) It’s easy to start an ” open door policy ” , I would to, if I owned a start up company that needs fast cash, and I saw thousands of unhappy ” big A ” distributors looking for a home, I would want them in my company asap, insert ” we need an open door policy “, stomp my foot and pound my fist the leader proclaims. Yah, this is just what people need, to join a company with 3 or 4 different law suits against it. But the law suits cant be because its the companies fault, it must be because they are on top and everyone wants to knock them off, I think that is the old saying. Maybe , just maybe, the company doesnt have as much integrity as everyone thinks they do. Again, all it takes is a little research, and I dont mean going to a meeting and listening to someone at the top talk about a big pay check. Open door policy would be great, I agree, I just feel sorry for all the distributors who are about to have the Mona Vie door slammed shut.

Wow Jason, I’m glad you posted that insider financial info about MonaVie needing fast cash, whew good thing you let us all know!
So, it must be fantastic to have your very own personal head office sources to feed you all of this accurate MonaVie information! I guess the old saying, “you don’t know what you don’t know” really holds true!
The law suits will never go away and it comes with the territory in all types of business, including MLM. If we avoided every company that was ever in a law suit or law suits then we wouldn’t eat, drink, drive, walk, fly or go to the bathroom. And by the way, we DID need an Open Door Campaign, and the founders of MonaVie had the backbone to do it first.

Instead of waisting your energy here trying to defend a company that you have ZERO control over just get out there and work!
Work on your MonaVie biz, Work on your other juice biz, work on your personal life for God’s sake. Just stop waisting your time defending a company that in my opinion has has started this blog and “open door policy” to disguise and distract your from the real issues.
We are all in this together. There’s no reason to take MonaVie’s issues personally. It’s too bad you have been made to feel this way.

Actually OVER IT, distributors don’t have ZERO control over MonaVie, much of the direction that MonaVie heads in is based on our input through our Distributor Advisory Board. And if some of us take it personally, well that’s because we are part of the MonaVie family, and you always defend and stand up for family, especially when specific comments posted are so totally wrong and untrue.
By the way, we are working our MonaVie biz, that’s why we can afford the leisure time to sit out by the pool and respond the posts

Regardless of the motives behind this intitiative, it is a step in the right direction. I wrote an article commending the move to a more open business model for network marketing. I believe it is necessary to turn around an industry with a SERIOUS image problem. The article can be found here.

Dallin Larsen compared to William Wilburforce? Are you serious? Dallin Larsen is a wise businessman and nothing else needs be said about the man - he’s in the business of making big, big money. William Wilburforce, on the other hand, fought for the rights of humanity at absolutley no personal gain - in fact, he received little but ridicule for his efforts for most of his life.
Dallin’s battles for freedom (again, are you serious?) will result in…more money for Dallin.
You can’t take it with you, Dallin - enjoy it while you can.

The only thing pathetic here is your view of Dallin Larsen. it’s obvious by your comments that you don’t know what you don’t know. Like Wilburforce was, Dallin is a very strong supporter of the importance of religion, morality, and education, as well as being a philanthropist. And that is the comparison that is being made by Matthew Jenkins in a previous post.
Actions speak louder than words Adios. How much do YOU give on a regular basis, or do on a regular basis to help thousands and thousands of people achieve a better quality of life?
I can tell you that the Open Door Campaign is starting to make a difference for Distributors in other companies. MonaVie Distributors are already free but Amway has just done away with its non compete in Australia, what a coincidence.

The reason that there are no other companies listed because YOU have to lobby your company and tell them they need to join. First of all a company has to step up to the plate and take the pledge…
“As a company, we pledge to respect our distributors and the value they bring to our organization. We know our success as a company is based on the success of our people. We will not bind any distributor to our company through unfair or illegal practices, including overly restrictive non-compete clauses. Instead, we promise an open door policy and are committed to creating an environment where distributors thrive.”
…and then they have to write it into their Policies and Proceedures. Once they have changed their P&Ps to reflect the pledge then they will be listed on the site.
If you actually used a real email when you posted then you would have received communications on this.
It’s easy to criticize, but much tougher to take action and make things happen Tom.

I am an Amway Global IBO. I am free to leave Amway Global at any time–close my business. By doing so, I loose the permission of distributing their products–and therefore the profit from those sales. There’s nothing coercive there. My retail customers are free to come and go at will, as well; even to purchase Amway products from multiple IBOs at the same time.
The non-compete says simply, that upon leaving I agree not to “raid” the distribution network and attempt to persuade others to leave their businesses also. There’s nothing unfair about that at all. Those people are free to leave their businesses just as I’m free to leave mine, or free to stay even if I leave. They should ALSO be free of undue pressure from the departing IBO to also abandon their businesses.
In addition, I could resign my IBO status in the morning, and sign up in any other direct selling business in the afternoon. The 6 month period is to prevent an IBO from resigning IBO status in one line of sponsorship and jumping over to register in another line of sponsorship.
When I owned a Independent Business (in the furniture industry) I also had a non-compete. When I agreed to carry and market a certain line of mattresses, I entered a non-compete that I would not ALSO sell other products in that same, or a similar business. As a contractor, I required salesman to sign a non-compete—stating that they would not represent another construction-related business while working for my company. All very standard stuff.

Steve, I think you’ll find that you can not join any other company that sells and competes with any your company’s products. Based on your IBO agreement they can stop you from getting a job at 7-11 as a cashier if that 7-11 sells Koolaid. Also, I think you might find that the contract that you sign also extends to your spouse AND to your immediate family. Which means your kids.
If I work my business and sponsor 30 or 60 or 100 distributors, those people are my people, not the company’s people, I brought them on board, they are my customers. So I should have the right to ask them if they are interested in being involved in my new company if I choose to leave. With that said, why would anyone want to leave if they are earning a good living. If they are MLM hoppers then all the more reason why they should leave anyway.
Companies need to realize they are zero without their distributors and they need to get off their high horse and be thankful for those hard working distributors and work harder on keeping those distributors instead of constantly taking them to court.
